6 Months

Here is an official belly picture at 6 months. Can't believe I only have 4 more to go until I meet this little boy!
A sweet picture of our first born at the Christmas tree farm. He was more into the bounce house and the lights than picking out a tree...not surprising!
PS we started potty training this week. He seems open to it (willing to sit on the potty, tells me when he is wet/poopy, and has gone pee on the potty several times) but I almost gave up this afternoon. Its day 3 and he seems really upset (cries) when he has an accident but I am having a hard time getting him to relax enough to go pee all at once. He pees a little then gets up and says all done and wants his M&M, but I know there is so much more in there and he ends up peeing his pants. Any suggestions or helpful tips from those who have been there before because I am exhausted and not sure if I should continue. Anyone potty trained a boy around 2 years old? Also, I am not suppose to leave the house until he can hold it or go on the potty consistently???

you gotta bite the bullet and leave the house...my girl was easy- did the whole thing herself before she was 2. the boy was more difficult. we peed on a lot of tires and in bushes. but my strategy was simple- spend 3 solid days at home asking him every 5 mins (not really but it felt like it), having him be naked or in his chonies. Then on day 4 have an outing for a couple hours- he will probably pee or poop his pants, but that's how they learn. it took oz a couple weeks of accidents like that before it clicked. i remember just when i thought he had it down i looked down and the whole floor was wet at trader joes (he was in the cart) and so was my purse that was underneath as well as the eggs that were also underneath. i had to ditch the cart (i was 8 months preg) grab him out wet, and lily who was 4 and take him out to the car to change him. but it's all part of the drill yo! good luck sista!

Um, seriously are you even prego? J/k you look great - about like my post baby belly! Ha ha! :)

I don't have any good boy suggestions, except that I tried using a slightly less "yummy" reward for just sitting on the potty when she was dry/clean to try to make the whole experience positive in general. I used Smarties for dry/clean and a jellybean for actual pee pee in the potty and chocolate chips for poo poo in the potty. I also let her watch a couple movies just sitting on the potty in the living room so that she could relax and get it all out and be familiar with the sensation.

We only really went for it starting last Monday and she already had a completely dry day (yesterday) including her nap. I am so happy and relieved. It is tough to do when your preggers though - a lot of bending and squatting and patience and cleaning and washing and whining and tears. So I definitely have given my child more that a reasonable amount of candy, but she's doing awesome at it now. Also, I had been staying close to home, but took her to the park on Thursday, but she wet her pull up and when I tried to change her, we got pee on both her pants and mine. So I just said we had to go home since we got pee on us...a MAJOR fit ensued even though I wasn't punishing her, but she had new resolve not to let that happen again and did great since then. Since she's been going on the potty consistently, I don't give her Smarties anymore - I just have to figure out what to do when she says she needs to go at bed/nap time but takes forever to avoid going to bed! (She was up a hour later last night!)

I don't know what to tell you, girl, but good luck! He'll own it eventually!

Thank you ladies for your great help. I appreciate your experiences. I think this maybe one of the more challenging things I've had to do as a parent. But end of day 3 and he pooped in his pants and peed on the potty....1 of 2 aint bad huh?! We'll try again tomorrow and have to brave the outside world on Wednesday...here we come with lots of wipes, clothes and undies....

As ther mom of 3 sons, I feel your pain. They all were very different in their potty training. Andrew just decided one day that he no longer wanted to wear diapers right before he turned 2 and never had an accident. Konnor on the other hand had me worried that he was going to start kindergarten in diapers, which almost happened, lol. And Scotty had a delay because of his broken leg. I do remember taking them in hourly and making them stay a minimum of a few minutes even if they said they didn't have to go. I also used to run the water to get things going, thinking that when I had to pee, the sound of running water would get things started, but don't know if it was just wishful thinking because it did seem to work. Good luck with it and know that though it may feel like its not going so well, he won't start kindergarten in diapers! Fortunately or unfortunately, kids work at their own special timeline that doesn't always match ours!
